Admissions
Are you looking for a theatre school in London for your child? Susi Earnshaw Theatre School is a specialist performing arts school in North London offering a unique education that develops students academically, vocationally, and personally.
We welcome applications from students who have a passion for performing arts — whether that’s drama, dance, singing, or music. Our admissions process is open, inclusive, and designed to give every child the opportunity to shine.
Why Choose Susi Earnshaw?
Susi Earnshaw Theatre School is more than a theatre school. We offer small class sizes, exceptional pastoral care, and a nurturing community where students are seen as individuals. Our students leave us confident, industry-ready, and equipped with the life skills to thrive — both on stage and beyond.
Based in a working theatre, our students are surrounded by performing arts and living the dream every day. Students are on stage performing every single day — whether that be in the West End or on the stage of our very own theatre. Many of our students attract the attention of theatrical agencies and gain professional representation whilst still in full-time education, going on to work in film, television, West End productions, and commercial castings. This immersive environment sets Susi Earnshaw apart from any other school.
“Finding the Susi Earnshaw Theatre School has been like discovering a hidden gem for our daughter. It’s an amazing school where Elizabeth is thriving both academically and creatively.” — Parent
Skills for Life — On Stage and Beyond
A performing arts education does far more than prepare students for a career on stage or screen. The skills our students develop at Susi Earnshaw give them a genuine advantage in whatever path they choose, whether that’s professional work in film, TV, West End productions, or commercial and screen work secured through a theatrical agency, or a career in any other field entirely.
Our students leave school with:
- Confidence: the ability to walk into any room and hold their own
- Exceptional communication skills: clear, compelling, and assured
- Self-belief: a deep-rooted conviction that they can achieve anything they set their minds to
- Creative thinking: the ability to think outside the box and approach problems with imagination
- Leadership skills: the poise and presence to inspire and lead others
- Adaptability: able to think on their feet, work independently, and thrive as part of a team
These are the qualities that employers, colleges, universities, and TV & theatre agencies recognise and value. A Susi Earnshaw education doesn’t just open doors in the performing arts, it opens doors everywhere.

Frequently Asked Questions
What age can children join Susi Earnshaw Theatre School?
We welcome students from age 11 through to 16 (Years 7–11). However, we can accept children in Year 6 if we believe they are ready to cope. If you are unsure whether your child is the right age to apply, please do get in touch and we will be happy to help.
What is the difference between a theatre school and a drama school?
A theatre school like Susi Earnshaw’s provides a full academic education alongside specialist performing arts training. Students study core academic subjects and sit GCSEs, whilst also receiving professional-standard vocational training in drama, dance, singing, and music. A drama school, by contrast, typically offers vocational training only, usually at degree level or above.
Do students sit GCSEs?
Yes, and we are extremely proud of our results. In both 2023 and 2024, 100% of our students achieved Grade 4 and above in English, Maths, and Combined Science at GCSE, alongside strong results in performing arts subjects. Academic achievement is central to life at SETS, and our small class sizes mean every student receives the individual attention they need to thrive.
What performing arts subjects are taught?
We offer specialist training in drama, dance, singing, and music, delivered by experienced industry professionals. Students develop technique, performance skills, and the confidence and discipline needed to pursue a career in the performing arts, including professional work in film, TV, West End theatre, and beyond. Many of our students gain professional representation through theatrical agencies whilst still at school, going on to secure screen, stage, and commercial work.
Where do graduates go after leaving school?
Many of our graduates go on to study at some of the most prestigious performing arts colleges in the country, several on scholarship places, including LAMDA, Rose Bruford, Central School of Speech and Drama, Guildford Conservatoire, The Place, Laban, Bird College, and The Brit School.
Does Susi Earnshaw Theatre School have any notable alumni?
Yes, perhaps our most celebrated former student is the late, great Amy Winehouse, a testament to the extraordinary talent that comes through our doors. Visit our Alumni page to find out more about where our students go on to achieve.
Do I need to live in North London to apply?
